It Started With a Moonwalk
In the 1980s, Samantha's parents bought one of the earliest inflatable moonwalks around and started renting it to birthday parties and arts and crafts festivals. Through the 1990s, the business grew alongside the boom in company picnics and employee appreciation events — and they added their first trailer-mounted carnival ride.
Samantha Takes the Wheel
After 11 years as a high school math teacher — and working Starwalk events on weekends — Samantha purchased the company from her parents in 2019. She rebranded, expanded the fleet, and kept the same commitment to family events that built the business in the first place.
Built to Last
The pandemic hit less than a year after Samantha took over. Amusement rides were among the last things allowed to reopen. They pushed through. Today, most of their clients have been with Starwalk for 5, 10, even 20+ years — and their warehouse manager has been full-time with the family since 2002.
Beyond the Festival
We've Done It on Film Sets Too
Since taking over, Samantha has had the pleasure of working on carnival sets for the film industry — including historically accurate period sets like a 1968 state fair. That means making sure every midway ride and concession stand is true to the era, working closely with art departments and show owners to get every detail right.
